MARKETA SEMANOVA

SYNOPSIS

WE BOTH STEP AND DO NOT STEP IN THE SAME RIVERS

The famous saying of the presocratic Heraklit “we both step and do not step in the same rivers” illustrates the intention of this installation in a public place: the subway network in a big city, or rather the possibilities of media installations at the individual stations, are being used in Marketa Semanova’s work to illustrate the communicative character of a fractal network. At every subway station one chapter of a crime novel is being read via the public address system. Regardless of the journey the viewer goes on, there is always a different, plausible storyline. It is self-evident that the ending of the story remains open.
